What can we do about it?
By understanding the multi-level determinants of cancer related outcomes we can re-write the story of cancer in our state. In the communities we serve, we are helping to eliminate barriers to cancer care by focusing on services related to:
- RISK REDUCTION such as education, vaccinations, drug programs and prevention
- SCREENINGS for breast, lung and colon cancers
- DIAGNOSIS of many other types of cancer
- TREATMENT of cancers utilizing the latest evidence-based guidelines and technology
- SURVIVORSHIP support through a team of dedicated, compassionate and experienced individuals
Centerpoint Cancer Care continues to emerge as a premier regional cancer service, underscored by accreditations, affiliations and honors.

Commission on Cancer (CoC) accreditation is nationally recognized by many organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, National Quality Forum, American Cancer Society and The Joint Commission, as having established data-driven performance measures for the provision of quality cancer care. CKCC has earned accreditation by meeting or exceeding numerous CoC standards annually that cover numerous aspects of patient-centered care, including cancer prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, genetic testing and counseling, supportive care, and survivorship.

As part of our continuing focus on making communities healthier, we are a proud partner of the UK Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network, which provides our patients with enhanced access to high-quality cancer care. The Markey Affiliate Network assists doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical staff at local hospitals that provide excellent care in their communities. When patients need care that is not available locally, they can be referred to the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington. When that happens, Markey doctors work with Centerpoint Cancer Care doctors and oncologists to minimize travel for patients and their families.

As a member of The Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC), we promote the entire continuum of quality cancer care for our patients and our communities. Since 1974, ACCC has been helping oncology professionals adapt to the complex changes of delivering quality cancer care. ACCC members rely on the Association to bring them information on cancer program management, reimbursement issues, legislative and regulatory changes at the state and national levels, community cancer program standards, NCI-funded community clinical research, hospital alliances and physician relationships, and more.
